  • Torque capacity up to 40 lb·in
  • Long life under continuous slip conditions at 15 Watts
  • Same or different CW and CCW torques
  • Precise and stable limit torque calibration
  • Same torque at breakaway as at slip velocities
  • Corrosion resistant materials
Applications
  • Tension control of film, tape or web drives
  • Transmission overload protection
  • Friction loads for testing components
Recommended Mounting Procedure
  1. Loosen the 4 #10 Socket Head clamping screws.
  2. Slip coupling over shaft making sure that the length of insertion does not exceed the "E" or "F" dimensions. Tighten the first two clamping screws.
  3. Insert second shaft into other end of coupling making sure that the length of insertion does not exceed the "E" or "F" dimensions. Tighten these two clamping screws.

This slip coupling serves as a torque limiter as well as a coupling for two collinear shafts. The CHT coupling is equipped with hubs at both ends for clamping to the respective shafts. When the load exceeds the limit torque for the slip coupling the two shafts rotate relative to each other at the full limit torque. The standard coupling is designed to operate with 3º angular or linear misalignments of up to .010" between the two shafts. The shafting hole diameters (B & C) can differ for each end of the coupling so that different diameters of "in-line" shafts can be coupled to each other.

The useful life of the CHT series couplings is a function of the transmitted torque and slip speed. The service life figures are based on continuous duty testing.

  • 1 Stock units are calibrated with equal cw and ccw slip torques corresponding to the tabulated Upper Limit Torques. Other torques are readily availabe from full, down to 1/8 of the upper limit torque for each model. Torque values are independent of each other for cw and ccw rotation, and may be specified the same or different for the two directions.
